Walker Bird, 86, of Pampa, passed away on March 22, 2022 in Amarillo.
Services for Walker and Dorothy Bird will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, March 26, 2022 at First Baptist Church with Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Walker was born April 4, 1935 in Pampa to Milo and Barbara Davis Bird. He graduated from Pampa High School, where he held a state track record. Walker worked as an electrician at Celenese most of his career. He was married to Dorothy Louise Mackie Bird for 49 years, she passed away in 2020. Walker was a longtime member of First Baptist Church, where he served many years in the bus ministry. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, cars, and having coffee with his friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 3 sisters, Sarah Eleanor Thompson, Barbara Joanne Bird Brandt, and Margaret Frances Bird; a brother, Milo William Bird.
He is survived by a sister, Mary Ellen Bird Evens; a brother, Robert D. Bird; step-son, Tony Stafford and wife Phyllis; 3 step-daughters, Teresa Stafford, Terry Murray, and Sherry Garza; granddaughters, Tiffany Kirkpatrick and husband Nathan, April Rogers, Amber Stafford Weir and husband Jeremy; grandson, TJ Stafford and wife Cait; great granddaughters, Avery Weir and Kinley Weir; great grandsons, Toby Kirkpatrick, Spence Kirkpatrick, and Duke Walker Stafford; and numerous nieces and nephews.
