Walton W. "Walt" Bailey

Walton W. “Walt” Bailey, 96, of Pampa, died Saturday September 9, 2017, in Pampa.  Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 12, 2017, at Fairview Cemetery with John Curry, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.  Mr. Bailey was born in Troy, Kansas. He earned a degree in chemical engineering from Oklahoma A&M. He worked in electronics for the US Navy serving during World War II. Walt married Betty George on August 22, 1943 in Bartlesville, OK; she preceded him in death on May 17, 1989. He began working for Celanese as a Senior Process Engineer in 1956 and retired in 1982, after retirement he began consulting for several years. Walt enjoyed whittling, listening to classical music, and spending time with his family. He was preceded in death by a son, David George Bailey on December 21, 2015, and a sister, Marge Falla.  Survivors include his son, Dick Bailey and wife Becky of Amarillo; sister, Laurice Cuculich of Merced, CA; two granddaughters, Jennifer Lester and husband Jason of Amarillo and Kristen Mills and partner Deb of Oklahoma City; two great granddaughters, Audrey Mae Lester and Olivia Rae Lester; great grandson, Cooper Bailey Mills.
