Warren Frank “Butch” Kayler, Jr.

Warren “Butch” Frank Kayler, Jr., 66, of Skellytown, passed away on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 in Skellytown.

A private memorial graveside will be held at a later date. Cremation and arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Warren was born on May 3, 1955 in Berwyn, Illinois, to Dolores Werner and Warren Kayler, Sr. He graduated from North High School in Phoenix, Arizona, in 1973. After high school, he moved to Palatine, Illinois and attended Harper College for a short time, and later pursued a career in mechanical engineering. He was self-taught and quickly worked his way up the ladder of skills and success. Warren took pride in his work and what he was able to help accomplish in his career. He was instrumental in building several hospitals across the nation, including a children’s hospital in Philadelphia. The project he was most proud to be a part of was the construction of the Freedom Tower in New York City after 9/11.

In his lifetime, Warren lived all across the United States. During his career, he lived in southern Texas, Illinois, Arizona, then finally back to Texas where he settled down in Skellytown. In 2017, Warren decided to retire. He will be remembered as one who always loved to joke around and was extremely sarcastic. He wanted everyone he was around to feel the same happiness he felt. Warren did not know a stranger and will be greatly missed by all of his friends and family.

Warren was preceded in death by his fathers, Warren Kayler, Sr. and Jerome J. Werner; a brother, Jimmy Kayler; and by nephews, James Kayler and Matthew Larson.

His survivors include his girlfriend, Diana S. Morison of Skellytown; Ex-wife, Gwyn Kayler Neill of Skellytown; two sons, Steven Kayler and wife Jamie of Carrollton, Georgia, and Jimmy Blaylock and wife Kayelynn of Luther, Oklahoma; a daughter, Samantha Wheeler and husband Braun of Fox River Grove, Illinois; mother, Dolores A. Werner of Sedona, Arizona; stepmother, Delores “Dodie” Kayler of Barrington Hills, Illinois; two sisters, Susan Kayler of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Ellen Kayler and husband Jim of Fox River Grove, Illinois; one brother, Glenn Kayler and wife Paula of Algonquin, Illinois; four grandchildren, Lily, Bella, Mason, and Brody; two nieces, Kayla Iacovino and husband Andrew Britton of Houston, and Laura Kayler of Fox River Grove, Illinois; and numerous other relatives who loved him greatly.
