Weldon Carter, 92, of Pampa, passed away on Sunday, January 24, 2021 in Pampa.
Private family services will be 10:00 AM Friday, January 29, 2021 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Rev. Charlie Stevens, pastor of First United Methodist Church, officiating. Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens Mausoleum under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. Livestream will be available at www.carmichael-whatley.com.
Weldon was born on March 22, 1928 in Borger to Orion and Gladys Bryant Carter. He graduated from Abilene Cooper High School in 1946 and attended McMurry College where he was a member of Ko Sari Fraternity. Weldon married Elizabeth Perry on March 9, 1950 in Abilene, and they moved to Pampa in 1951. She preceded him in death on December 8, 1998. Weldon began working as a manager for Cabot & Noi Employees Credit Union in 1954 and worked there for 40 years until his retirement. He served on the Cabot and Noi Employees Credit Union Board for several years. He was a faithful member of the First United Methodist Church where he served on the Administrative Board for several years. Weldon enjoyed raising cattle, and he was the Pampa Harvesters’ biggest fan and never missed a game. Weldon will be remembered as a generous man, a kind father, and good grandfather.
He was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his son, James Carter, and an infant sister, Barbara Ann Carter.
Weldon is survived by his 2 daughters, Linda Elstone and husband Norman of Lubbock and Cynthia Bedford and husband Alvin of Tulsa, OK; 7 grandchildren, Garret Hamby, Tyler Hamby, Kayla Hamby, James Elstone, Trey Bedford, Brian Bedford, and Daniel Bedford; and 7 great-grandchildren, Marin Hamby, Dylan Hamby, Kaitlyn Bedford, David Bedford, Isabelle Bedford, Timothy Bedford, and Gabrielle Bedford.
