Wendy Ruthardt, 73, of White Deer, passed away on Thursday, February 3, 2022, in Pampa.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 AM, Wednesday, February 9, 2022, at the First Baptist Church of White Deer with Pastor Alan Wilson, pastor of the First Baptist Church of White Deer, officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors and Crematory.
Wendy was born on November 13, 1948, in Port Jefferson, New York to Nathan and Anita Smilie. The family moved to Amarillo in 1957, when Wendy was nine. She attended schools in Amarillo, graduating from Tascosa High School in 1966. After high school, she began her career in education administration. She worked for Amarillo College for a brief time, but then worked for the Amarillo Independent School District. She returned to Amarillo College again, but eventually moved to White Deer to work at the White Deer Independent School District. She married the love of her life, Darrell Ruthardt, on July 19, 1991. Wendy was the secretary for the White Deer ISD superintendent for 31 years, before she eventually retired. In her spare time, Wendy loved to watch baseball and football, especially the Dallas Cowboys. She also loved to travel. Wendy was very dear to her friends and family and will be greatly missed.
Wendy is preceded in death by her parents.
She is survived by her husband, Darrell Ruthardt of the home; three sons, Terrell Cooke and wife Sissy, Paul Cooke and wife Misty, and Darren Ruthardt and wife Buffy, all of Amarillo; daughter, Trena Beckmann of Fischer; six grandchildren, Darrek Ruthardt and wife Shelby, Courtney Howell, Hayden Maas and husband Mason, Remington Cooke, Channing Cooke, and Wil Cooke; a great-grandchild, Luke Maas; one brother, Clark Smilie and wife Jo of Richardson; one sister, Brenda Tolbert of Navarre, Florida; and several nieces, nephews, and other extended family.
