Wenona W. Goodwin, 89, of Pampa passed away on Friday, January 4, 2019 in Pampa.
Services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, January 8, 2019 at First Baptist Church with Rev. James Greer, Director of Missions Top O’ Texas Baptist Association and Rev. Byron Williamson, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Graveside services will at 2:00 PM Tuesday at Lieb Cemetery in Morse. Arrangements are by Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.
Wenona was born May 10, 1929 in Hutchinson County on a farm. She graduated from Stinnett High School and attended nursing school in Amarillo, where she met James Arthur Goodwin. They married on June 15, 1948 in Amarillo, and he passed away on April 11, 2016. Wenona had been a Pampa resident since 1947. She was a longtime member of First Baptist Church and worked as secretary at Calvary Baptist Church for several years before getting involved in Avon cosmetics. She and James volunteered at Pampa Regional Medical Center for many years. Wenona was an artist and painter, and she enjoyed quilting, embroidery, and camping. She loved being with her family and especially being “Grandma” to her grandchildren.
Survivors include a daughter, Mary Felten and husband Don of Orr, MN; three sons, Jimmie Carl Goodwin and wife Rita of Iowa Park, Rocky Wendell Goodwin of Denver, CO and, Tracy Goodwin of Amarillo; two sisters, Wanda Gruver, and Leota Black, both of Amarillo; one brother, Donald Wayne “Bud” Williams of Allison; eight grandchildren, David Felten, Daniel Felten, Douglas Felten, Daryl Felten, Melissa Fife, Teresa Kee, Heather Tarman, and James Goodwin; thirteen great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Wenona was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Donaldson and Adeline Ludwig; five brothers, Allison Williams, Eason Williams, Lester Williams, Bobby Williams, and John Jay Williams.
