William "Billy" Kidd

June 22, 1955 — November 2, 2020

William “Billy” Kidd, 65, of Lefors, passed away on Monday, November 2, 2020 in Amarillo.

Services will be 10:00 AM Friday, November 6, 2020 at Carmichael-Whatley Colonial Chapel with Pastor Paul Nachtigall, pastor of Highland Baptist Church, officiating.  Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Billy was born June 22, 1955 to Bill and Renetta Kidd and was raised with his 3 brothers, a sister, and a special nephew “little” Donny.  He graduated from Pampa High School in the class of 1974.  A few years after graduation he married the love of his life, Rhonda Furgerson on March 25, 1977 in Lefors.  Billy built pump jacks for Pumpco/Alram for over 12 years before going to work for the Texas Department of Criminal Justice.  He worked at the prison system for 22 years, retiring in 2013.  After his retirement he began working at Energy Transfer up until 2017 when his health would not allow anymore.  Billy was a member of Briarwood Church for many years.

Billy enjoyed spending time with his family, especially the times they would spend at Lake Livingston during the summers or Cabot Ranch.  He would spend hours on the lake boating and fishing.  He loved to fish with his 2 sons and grandsons.  He was an avid Dallas Cowboy fan.  Billy loved watching his grandsons play all sports and rarely missed an event.  Family time was important to him and always looked forward to big family gatherings, he was a true family man. He was preceded in death by his parents, and a brother, Donnie Kidd.

He is survived by his wife, Rhonda of the home; 2 sons, Brandon Kidd and wife Katie of Pampa and Zachary Kidd of Lefors; a sister, Sharon Albus and husband Nick of Trinity; 2 brothers, Phil Kidd of Denison and Toney Kidd of Pampa; 4 grandsons, Braden Kidd and wife Seika, Tayte Kidd, Karter Kidd, and Bryant Kidd all of Pampa; and a great granddaughter, Amberlee Kidd; his mother in law, Bea Furgerson; and numerous nieces and nephews.
