William Dominic "Kaz" Kazakoff, Sr.

William Dominic “Kaz” Kazakoff, Sr., 70, of Pampa, passed away Sunday, October 1, 2017 in Pampa. Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Friday, October 6, 2017 at the Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Jimmye Cole, pastor, officiating. Cremation arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors. William was born on July 27, 1947 in San Francisco, CA. As a young boy his family moved to Sunnyvale, CA where he would attend school and graduate high school. After graduating, he enlisted in the United States Air Force. Soon after he was sent to Vietnam, where he would serve for some time and would eventually be captured by the North Vietnamese and become a POW for 18 months before obtaining his release. After the war, he would live for a few years in Louisiana where he would work as an Abestos Removal Expert for several years. William would travel to Pampa where he would eventually meet Sondra Fleetwood in 1985. They would move back to Louisiana and they would wed on March 24, 1987. They enjoyed several years there before returning to Pampa in 2001. Once back in Texas, William worked for Zachary Construction and then on to the Texas Department of Corrections where he would retire. He was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. In his spare time he liked to play the slots whenever he was able to get away or go fishing. William was very generous man who put many others before himself and made sure no one was in need. Mr. Kazakoff will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother and he cared deeply for his family and their wellbeing. He was preceded by his parents and by a granddaughter, Shana Kazakoff. Survivors include his wife, Sondra Kazakoff of the home; his two sons, David Wade Matthews and wife Tammie of Tampa, FL and William Dominic Kazakoff, Jr.; by his daughter, Bonnie Watts and husband Jimmy of Ponchatoula, LA; by his sister, Elizabeth McKenzie of Pampa; by his granddaughter, Mariah Newcomb, Ponchatoula LA; his two great-granddaughters, Everly Newcomb and Bailey White both of Ponchatoula, La.
