Willie D. Mills, Sr.

Willie D. Mills, Sr., 80, of Pampa passed away on Monday, April 1, 2019 in Amarillo.

Memorial services will be 12:30 Pm at Macedonia Baptist Church with Pastor Wesley Smith officiating.  Graveside services will be at 2:00 PM Tuesday, April 9, 2019 at Fairview Cemetery.  Arrangements are under the direction of Carmichael-Whatley Funeral Directors.

Mr. Mills was born March 28, 1939 in Lelia Lake to Gordon and Alice Mills. He has lived in Pampa since 1959 and married Mary Ellen Johnson that same year.  She preceded him in death in 2004.  He was a heavy equipment operator and a concrete finisher for many years working for Hogan Construction.  He semi-retired in 1992 and in 2015 he fully retired.  Willie enjoyed watching football and westerns on tv, listening to music, hunting, fishing, and being around his family.  Willie was a hard worker and a man of his word.  He was respected by his family and friends.  He was a wonderful daddy and Papa to his children and grandchildren, and always had a great smile.  He was preceded in death by three brothers and four sisters.

Survivors include Connie Ballard of the home; 2 sons, Willie D. Mills, Jr. and Heather Elsass and Lonnie Remond Mills all of Pampa; 5 daughters, Monique Jernigan of Fort Worth, Mercedes Lofton and fiancé Terrian Johnson of Amarillo, Patrice Ballard of Pampa, Itavia Ballard of Amarillo, and Sierra Lashay Williams of Pampa; a sister, Joyce Ransom of Clovis, New Mexico, 22 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren.
