Winfred Simmons, 79, of Pampa, passed away on Thursday, April 14, 2022 in Pampa.

Winfred was born July 17, 1942 in Shidler, Oklahoma to John and Gladys Simmons. On May 5, 1972, he married the love of his life, Linda Crupper. They would have celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in just a few weeks. He worked as an oilfield pumper for Petroleum International/McMahan Operating for many years, retiring in 2004. They had a boat and camper and spend many weekends at Lake Meredith water skiing and camping. He enjoyed taking the family on vacations to Colorado, New Mexico, Arkansas, and Missouri. Winfred also loved attending family reunions and talking about oilfield and politics. Winfred was a very talented man. He had a passion for restoring antique tractors. He would start with an old rusty hunk of junk and turn it into a showroom ready tractor. Winfred was also good at woodworking, as he built their home from the ground up. He also built all the cabinets and even some of the furniture in their home. Winfred love old clocks as well, he enjoyed repairing them and getting them back to new.

Winfred was a member of the Golden Spread Antique Machine Association and High Plains Cruisers. Every year for many years, he would load a couple of his restored tractors and drive them in different parades. He and Linda would also drive either their 1955 Chevy pickup or their 1965 Ford Galaxy in parades, cruises, or Burning the Bricks Car Shows. They both could be found on Friday nights cruising with the High Plains Cruisers and parking at Sonic to hang out with their friends.

Winfred was a humble, honest, and hard-working man. He had an onery crooked grin but was a very genuine person who loved his wife and family dearly. Winfred was very proud of his restored tractors and his property, as he took pride in maintaining both.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his brother, Larry Simmons.
